Warranty.

When a part fails before the trip, the replacement ships from the origin depot before the failed unit has to come back — StoneWave coordinates every warranty claim with the maker on your behalf, one contact anywhere in the world, for the duration of the maker’s published coverage window. This page describes what the expedition-grade warranty covers per category, what it doesn’t, how a replacement moves through the origin depot, and how to open a claim.

What it covers

One posture, five verticals.

The same defect-and-hardware posture, settled per category — the depot reviews each claim against the published window for the vertical the kit is in.

  • Rooftop tents

    The deck a rooftop tent lives on — hardshell and softshell shells, frames, gas struts, ladder hardware and the mounting bracket the tent rides on.

    Covered

    • Shell seams, frame members, gas struts, latches and ladder hardware under normal expedition use within the maker’s published load and climate envelope.
    • Mounting-bracket failure where the install followed the maker’s published torque spec and the vehicle payload stays inside the published rating.
    • Coating failures and delamination on hardshell and softshell units, including fly seam failures not caused by user-inflicted pin holes, abrasion or chemical exposure.
    • Zippers, slider interfaces and fabric seam failure on the same unit — read against the maker’s published repair window, not against an undefined spec.

    Carved out

    • Wind above the unit’s published rating, snow loads the frame isn’t rated for, and unanchored deployment.
    • Field-pin damage and ladder scuffs inflicted during setup, teardown or transit on the trail.
  • Power & Energy

    Portable power stations and solar panels — the cell, the inverter, the BMS and the ports.

    Covered

    • Capacity that falls outside the maker’s rated cycle spec within the first hundred cycles — the depot reads the BMS log review without you sending the unit in.
    • Switching power supply failures, port hardware failure and inverter faults on arrival or within the maker’s published coverage window.
    • Charge controller and MPPT failures under published input ceilings and the unit’s published environmental limits.

    • Cabinet hardware, slide-out rails, chassis welds and fold-out legs under normal expedition use within the published load envelope.
    • Cooktop and sink hardware failure not caused by user-inflicted impact, thermal shock or chemical corrosion.
    • Defects in materials and workmanship surfaced within the maker’s published coverage window.

    Carved out

    • Field damage to cabinet surfaces — dents, cuts, and powder-coat scoring from stone, cookware or impact during deployment.
  • Adventure-mobility gear

    A category under evaluation — recovery boards, traction boards, portable awnings and the small-format expedition kit that goes with them. Coverage language here is forward-looking, written in the same voice.

    • Manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship surfaced within the maker’s published coverage window.
    • Hardware failure under normal expedition use — hinges, brackets, gas struts, fasteners and fold-out mechanisms.

    Carved out

    • Recovery-load ratings exceeded in the field, and any use outside the unit’s published load, wind or environmental window.

Field cases are reviewed by the maker first; StoneWave mediates but does not adjudicate. The replacement-first path means freight and shipping are covered both ways for warranty claims.

Replacement workflow

Window · Stock-dependent

If the part is on hand at the origin depot when the RMA clears, the replacement ships before your kit’s next trip — you do not have to send the failed unit back first. Typically two to five business days from depot hand-off, on the freight lane the maker publishes at order time. Where the part is on the next production batch, the depot quotes a wait and StoneWave passes that wait through unchanged — we don’t fabricate a faster ETA than the depot can keep.

When the maker’s freight plan permits expedite, the depot pre-authorises it; where it doesn’t, we tell you before you pay for it. Trips booked inside ten business days are flagged in the RMA email so the depot can skew to in-stock parts where the maker’s plan allows.

What it doesn’t cover

Expedition use vs improper use.

Honest carving-out is the point of a warranty — the maker’s coverage window was written against real expedition use, not against an imagined one.

Covered as expedition use

  • Loading within the maker’s published roof-rack or payload rating — driven by the rated vehicle, not by an unspecified rig.
  • Wind exposure inside the published wind rating for the unit flown or anchored — measured inside the maker’s published spec, not against an undefined storm.
  • Water exposure inside the maker’s published IP rating — typically splash and rain, not immersion past the rated depth.
  • Firmware updates flashed through the maker’s documented procedure — not a third-party tool, rep flashed binary or hand-edited config.

What isn’t covered · improper use

  • Cosmetic wear — finish patina, surface scratches from normal mounting, dust on anodised hardware, light abrasion on the fly that doesn’t compromise the seam.
  • Unauthorized modifications — drilling, third-party brackets, non-OEM fasteners, firmware flashed outside the maker’s published procedure.
  • Abuse, crash damage, water immersion beyond the maker’s published IP rating, fire/chemical exposure, and any unit that has been resold outside the StoneWave order ledger.
  • Consumables — gaskets, O-rings, dust seals, cabin air filters, replaceable fuse elements — past the maker’s published consumable window (typically 90 days from delivery).
  • Field damage that the depot review attributes to use outside the maker’s published spec — over-loaded roof racks, unrated towing configurations, unanchored deployment in wind beyond the rated limit.

Borderline cases — wind above the rated limit, water above the IP rating, an over-loaded rack — are reviewed by the depot and decided on the documented failure mode, not on the story that travelled with the unit.

Filing a claim

How to file a claim.

Claims start with an email, never a portal login. Four steps, same business day for the RMA, fewer than five business days for the depot review once the unit arrives.

File a warranty claim

  1. Step 01

    Email stonewave@polsia.app with the order number, the serial on the warranty card, and a short note describing the failure. Photos are welcome and shorten the depot review by a day or two, but they are never required to start a claim.

  2. Step 02

    We reply the same business day with an RMA number and the origin-depot return address. Until launch, the depot is confirmed per order — what the maker has documented at the time of the claim is what we pass through.

  3. Step 03

    Re-pack the unit the way it shipped — rooftop tents and shelter components in the original crate, portable power in the original pressure-fit foam. The RMA email includes the spec sheet and the return label.

  4. Step 04

    Once the depot review clears — typically within five business days of arrival — the replacement is issued against the same RMA. Replacement-first means freight and shipping are covered both ways; refunds close instead of replacement only where the maker’s policy explicitly allows it.
